Newton’s Laws of Lust

We are so focused on the idea of being loved that we lost our grasp on it coming naturally

That instead of a slow-burning flame of friendship, we use our eyes to identify love factually

and I never understood how you can look at someone for the first time and automatically want their hands touching every part of your skin

but that’s the lust we all embrace. Now love is just yarn stringing apart till it’s thin.

And we often confuse desire with admiration ,

we mistake pleasure for love, a short-lived infatuation

picking and choosing an apple from a tree because it’s the perfect shade of red

beauty is subjective to looks rather than the thoughts that are in our heads

and I doubt you’d ever consume all of it it, learn what kind it is, tasting all the flavors. and only decide to stare at the shiny glaze of pesticide that is over it in layers

but you stared at it for long enough to admire its beauty, maybe mumble out some prayers

and so you take a bite,

only to realize it’s not the one you prefer and now the white of the apple turns brown because you look at it in disgust

so you throw it away, and I call that Newton’s laws of lust.
